SACRED COMMUNITY PROJECT LIVE (V. 2)

Something happens when a room full of people chant together—call it Magic, call it Bhav, call it Love, call it Joy, call it the Spontaneity of the Grace-Filled Moment. It can’t be manufactured, manipulated, or coerced. But, if we listen, its slow swelling can flood the senses as we enter a state of Holy Allowance.

It is for this reason that years ago SCP committed itself to a simple act that continues to reap rewards: We hit record before our live events. Most of these recordings sit in a hard drive in a passive state of 0s and 1s, and many may never be listened to. But once in a full red moon one of these recordings will call out to us, and, like the Gopis who dropped everything at the call of Krishna’s flute, we are compelled into the world of their sound.

This collection of songs are from several SCP events that occurred in 2024, and over half are from the Sacred Community Retreat from that year. As the producer and lead mix engineer of the album, I have easily spent hundreds of hours listening to the most minute details of these tracks, and I have yet to tire from them. The full-hearted passion of Hari’s “Gopala,” the majestic artistry of Kavita and her band on “Om Bolo Sat Guru Jai Hanuman,” the tender sincerity of Swapnil’s voice on “Mere Gurudev,” and the mountainous presence of Pav’s “SitaRam Lullaby” all leave me in a state of absorption into the pure pleasure of their Bhav-filled soundscapes.
